Skating for Change
Dear Ms. Cyr and her fourth grade class, “Twenty 4 Change” is such an inspirational organization and we were glad to be made aware of it by Ms. Cyr’s father. The feeling of satisfaction at being able to make a small difference in someone’s life at a time of adversity is a very special one.
We have been fortunate to have the support of our family in order to pursue our dreams as athletes. However, as you know, there are many children who are not as fortunate as we are. This year, we are ambassadors for the international organization “Right To Play” that uses the power of playing sports and games to educate and empower children facing challenging circumstances. We have also performed for organizations such as “An Evening with Champions” – a skating show that supports the Jimmy Fund in Boston. More recently, we were performers at “Frenchie Skate", a benefit show that supports North Star Reach, a camp for kids with serious health issues. Going forward, we will continue to be involved with these organizations as much as possible.
Lastly, thank you so much for supporting us at the Olympics. It was such a tremendous experience, and a great honor for us to represent the United States! Best wishes to all of you!
Sincerely, Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani
